Worked example – not the service's price or an offer
If the eligible labour is €500.00 (incl. VAT), 40% is €200.00. If this is your only eligible purchase of the year, the credit is €50.00 after the annual deductible. If your annual deductible is already used by other work, the credit for this work can be €200.00.
The example assumes the other conditions are met, enough of the annual maximum remains and your taxes are high enough to absorb the credit.
The household tax credit is applied in your taxation. You pay the price of your order. The amount also depends on your other eligible purchases that year, the remaining annual maximum and the taxes you pay.
The credit can apply, for example, to qualifying work done in your own home or holiday home. Your parents' or grandparents' home can qualify too. The company selling the service must be in the prepayment register when the contract is made. The credit is calculated on the eligible labour including VAT; supplies, travel costs and other non-eligible costs are left out. The Finnish Tax Administration has the detailed conditions.

A couple should claim it for one spouse only (if both claim half, €1,300 in total). On a large €12,000 renovation each can claim at most €2,100, €4,200 in total. You enter the area in square metres when you book, and the price is the listed rate per m². If the finished area is smaller, the difference is refunded; a larger area or extra materials are added only after you approve them in the app.
Pick what you want painted (walls, ceilings or both), give the rough area and how the surfaces look, and say whether you supply the paint. Moving furniture to the middle of the room helps the Hero get started.

- Choose the service and a time, and enter the area in square metres.
- The price is the area times the rate per m². Pay when you book or later with Klarna; your money is held safely until the job is done.
- A Hero accepts the booking and gets in touch before the visit if anything needs sorting out, such as materials to bring. Then they arrive at the agreed time, and you can message them in the app.
- When the job is done, check it and approve it. If the area turned out smaller, the difference is refunded.
Cancelling
- If no Hero has accepted your booking yet, you get your money back in full.
- After that, cancel more than 48 hours before the start and you get 75% back; later than that, 50%. Once the Hero has set off, nothing is refunded.
- As a consumer you can also withdraw free of charge within 14 days of ordering, as long as the Hero has not set off.
- If the Hero cancels, we find you another Hero or refund you in full.
