Garden and outdoor guide: yard work and snow removal

Outdoor work depends on the site and the weather. Here is how to describe the job well, what to expect on the day and what to check afterwards.

Before, during and after

Before

  • Give the size of the area and add photos of the yard, trees or roof.
  • Mark anything to avoid: plants, cables, drains or sprinkler heads.
  • Say where garden waste or snow can go, and whether it must be taken away.
  • Make sure the hero can get in: open the gate and move cars if needed.

During

  • Keep children and pets away from mowers, saws and ploughs.
  • If the weather stops the work, agree a new time with the hero in the app chat.
  • If the job turns out bigger, the hero asks for extra time in the app first.

After

  • Walk round the site and check the result before you approve the job.
  • Check that the waste or snow is where you agreed.
  • Leave a review: it helps the next customer choose.

Tips

  • Felling a tree near a building or power lines? Give the distances and add photos.
  • Book snow clearing before the snow packs down: fresh snow is quicker to clear.
  • Clean the gutters in autumn after the leaves have fallen.

How pricing works

  • Hourly services: you pay for the time actually worked, at least the minimum shown on the service, then per started half hour. Unused booked time is refunded.
  • Fixed-price services: the price is fixed for the job as described.
  • Area-based services: the price is the area in square metres times the rate per m².
  • Quote requests: heroes send quotes, and nothing is booked or charged until you accept one.
  • In every case, extra time, work or materials are added only after you approve them in the app.

Frequently asked questions

How is the price calculated?

You pay the hourly price for the time actually worked: at least the minimum shown on the service, then per started half hour. Booked time that is not used is refunded.

Is taking away the waste or snow included?

Each service page shows what is included; say in the booking what should happen to the waste or snow. Taking snow away by truck is a separate service in the snow removal category.

What if the job takes longer than I booked?

The hero asks for extra time in the app and you decide. Nothing is added without your approval, and booked time that is not used is refunded.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. If no hero has accepted it yet, you get everything back. After that, cancelling more than 48 hours before the start refunds 75% and later 50%; nothing is refunded once the hero has set off. As a consumer you can also withdraw free of charge within 14 days of ordering, as long as the hero has not set off. This right does not cover removals and transport tied to an agreed date.
